Why this site will help you get more attentive and inquisitive students...

If you want to turn disinterested students into keen, curious ones, you’re in the right place.

Here’s the deal - You must learn about how kids learn, to get captivated students. If you know what makes students “tick,” it’s easier to get their attention and keep it. It’s also easier to get them to take some form of action, like printing and recording their experiments and observations.

How do we find out how children learn?

I provide information to help you understand how kids perceive their world, and break down teaching with hands on materials into simple, actionable steps that can help you improve your teaching style.

About Patricia Bentham - author kindergarten-lessons.com

I started this site with the intention of helping educators make learning environments places of exploration, problem solving and creative thought processes.

My purpose is to help teachers, early childhood educators, education students, daycare providers and parents who home school give children the experiences of exploring, discovering and learning about their world. I also wanted to assist parents who wonder why the teacher is having their child thread a pattern of colored pasta on a string!

I have a Bachelor of Education degree from the University of Victoria, have completed Web and Print Design certification programs, as well as numerous art courses. I have taught young children for 20 years, art to students in grades K - 12 as well as adult drawing courses.

I have always loved interacting with young children and appreciate the way they learn, their inquiring minds and the questions they ask. I enjoy their wonder of life, their ability to live in the present, and their spontaneous and fresh artwork.

I have now stepped back from full time teaching to consulting and have also launched into a new career of teaching artist journaling programs. Have questions? Contact me here...

Best regards, Patricia
