About me...

Hi, I'm Patricia Bentham, author of kindergarten-lessons.com. I started this site with the intention of helping educators make learning environments places of exploration, problem solving and creative thought processes.

My purpose is to help teachers, early childhood educators, education students, and parents who home school give children the experiences of exploring, discovering and learning about their world. I also wanted to assist parents who wonder why the teacher is having their child thread a pattern of colored pasta on a string.

My mother and grandmother were teachers and I have been an educator for over twenty years. As a child, I helped my mum cut out shapes, put up bulletin boards, and in those days, watched in fascination as she made gelatin in cookie sheets and slowly reproduced identical worksheets one paper at a time for her students!

I have an appreciation for art, have an enthusiasm for creative design and enjoy creating pictures for children. My mother was also a student of the Famous Artist's home study course and I would watch with eyes wide open as she completed her weekly lessons. seahorse

I have a Bachelor of Education from the University of Victoria, have completed Web and Print Design certification programs, as well as numerous art courses. I have taught young children for 20 years, art to students in grades K - 12 and adult education drawing courses.

I have now stepped back from teaching full time to tutoring, coordinating international students, creating web sites and illustrating for others. For more information visit my other web site, www.benthamdesign.com.

I have always loved interacting with young children. I appreciate the way they learn, their inquiring minds and the questions they ask. I enjoy their wonder of life, their ability to live in the present, and their spontaneous and fresh artwork.

fish for kidsThe Science Center was the favorite place in the classroom. The students hurried there first thing each day, excited to check out how their bean plants were growing, to add an object to the current display, or to examine the latest container of baby spiders, pond water, or other interesting creatures. And of course, they would pull me over to observe that day's wonderful discovery too.

Hopefully the tips at kindergarten-lessons.com will help you create a joyful, enriched learning environment for your students.

Please contact me with any suggestions or questions.

Best regards,
Patricia
