Geometry Fun for Kids

Learn how to teach preschool & primary geometry and spatial sense skills with fun special days.   Discover teaching ideas I've refined from years of teaching young children.

Hi, I'm teacher, Patricia Bentham. There are so many engaging activities you can present to your students that will make a tremendous difference in your success as an educator of young children.

I've written this 40 page book as a guide to help you present geometry and spatial skill concepts in interesting ways that are thought-provoking and foster exploration, problem solving and creative thinking.

When I first began teaching, I was frustrated that many children did not retain the lessons from the day before. Children are great at teaching you what teaching methods work and what don't. Through trial and error I gradually developed a binder full of ideas that helped children succeed.

As I began to use and refine my new winning approach, I experienced a big increase in the children's ability to sort sets by a single attribute, to state differences between two sets, to describe 3-D objects and to create representations of 3-D objects.

Who can benefit from this book?

"Geometry & Spatial Sense - Special day themes for young learners", is a guide for early childhood or primary educators, education students, beginning teachers, seasoned teachers changing grades and parents who home school

I've tested and honed these teaching strategies so that they really work.

You don't have to re-invent the wheel and go through the same learning curve I did to figure out what really works. I've already done it for you.

The geometry activities are open-ended so children can complete them at their own developmental level. Some children will print words or sentences, detailed drawings and more difficult math concepts, while others will print a few letters, draw simpler pictures, and demonstrate less complex math.

The book's approach to teaching geometry and spatial skills with special days not only helped my students to gain new vocabulary and learn new skills, it caused them to look forward to and be excited about a special day at school.

"Geometry & Spatial Sense - Special day themes for young learners" is THE reference book for every primary or preschool teacher wanting  present hands on meaningful geometry and spatial sense activities to their students. Patricia covers everything: .... I've been teaching for years and it is great to find a resource that has open ended activities for all students Worth every cent of \$25 Betty Boop Grade one teacher

How did I discover the strategy of teaching geometry and spatial skill concepts with special days?

During my first few years of teaching, I followed curriculum guides faithfully but was disappointed that so many skills were taught with worksheets. The children's experiences were very much paper and pencil or crayons. Thank goodness that there is now more emphasis on hands on learning using math manipulatives.

When learning experiences are interesting, children are relaxed and their attention is absorbed and they find remembering new concepts and vocabulary easier.
