Keep kids physically active with hopscotch carpets
Add a hopscotch type kid carpet to your learning environment to encourage your students to move. Statistics show that many school aged and preschool children are not active enough for favorable growth and development and many are overweight. Purposely organizing your classroom to encourage safe physical activity will benefit your students.
Often in the winter months it is difficult to provide enough activities to keep children active. I like this sort of carpet in the classroom as it not only defines a space or center, it also encourages kids to be active and reinforces learning numbers at the same time.
Children like to play the game of hopscotch over and over and having a variety of mats offers different learning opportunities.
The carpeton the right is 83 by 25 inches, made of washable polyester, and includes a couple of stuffed markers.
In BC Canada, where I live, school children are required to have 90 minutes of physical activity daily. Having materials in your classroom that inspires kids to move helps fulfill this stipulation.
This PE carpet is a different version of a hopscotch carpet. The numbers are embossed. It is durable and is eight feet long and 3 feet wide. Has a non-skid back. It rolls out to play and rolls up to store. Includes four 4" square bean bag markers.
