Mothers Day Language Arts
Turn a pocket chart activity into a card...
The Mothers Day language arts activity on the previous page can quickly be turned into a card.
Once the children have practiced reading the pocket chart sentence, give each child their sentence strip to glue inside a card (size will vary depending on how large the pocket chart words are).
Enrich the children's experience by providing them with shape stickers to create a flower decoration on the front of the card and a repeat pattern inside the card.
Encourage children to read their cards out loud to the class before they take them home.
Reading cards to Partners
If the class is large, have children sit with a partner and take turns reading theri cards and their patterns to each other. Switch to a new partner and reread the cards. The children may also like to read their Mother's Day cards to their buddies.
