Christmas math activities...
Add math to your Christmas craft sessions by classifying the finished ornaments by color, size, and content.
- Put a picture of a person, an animal and a plant into the top row of your pocket chart
- Let each child choose one of their Christmas card ornaments (before they add glitter!!)and place it into a pocket in the chart under the correct category
- Count how many plants, how many animals and how many people ornaments are in each row
- Record the numbers
Venn Diagram classification
- Draw a big Venn diagram on a large piece of chart paper
- Glue a picture of a person on one side
- Glue a picture of an animal on the other side
- Glue a picture of a plant and animal in the middle section

- Children place their ornaments in the appropriate place on the Venn diagram
- Count how many ornaments in each category
- Record the numbers
