I finally finished the Tide Pool Theme that I have been working on for the past few months. I realize that it is too late in the year for many of you to go to the beach but hopefully it will be helpful if you are planning your year in advance.

Help children learn how to care for and respect the environment as they learn about the fascinating creatures in a tide pool. The theme is filled with tips and ideas for teaching young children about the sensitive tide pool ecosystem.
It includes:
- Free starfish tracers for art activities, such as the one above
- information about what to teach
- tips for taking a tide pool field trip
- a make your own mini-tide pool craft and much more
Children will be working towards:
- describing what a tide pool is
- observing, describing and recording life in a tide pool with some words, pictures and modeling
- classifying invertebrates found in a tide pool by observing their appearance and characteristics
- understanding that tide pools are facing challenges from humans (including children) and pollution
- understanding "good tide pooling rules:
