New Page - Thanksgiving craft

Children love festive days and this Thanksgiving potato turkey is a class favorite. The students are proud to take home a centerpiece for the Thanksgiving dinner. Check out the new page here...

More Going Green Sites

For my readers that have inquired about environmental sites, here are a few more great websites that I found.

http://www.laptoplunches.com/ideas.html - earth friendly resources and lunch making ideas to share with your parents

http://wastefreelunches.org/ - Their aim is to provide you with information to participate in (or to start!) a waste-free lunch program at your school

http://lifewithoutplastic.com - seeks to offer alternatives to plastic

Share your ideas...

I often receive interesting ideas and suggestions via emails from my readers. I added a form page and invite you to upload and share an activity. As I love teaching math with literature, I started with a form to share the title of a favorite book that you use to connect math to literature.

Contribute the title of the book, ideas for a math activity or two, and photos if you wish. Reading literature that helps students connect math concepts to their own experiences not only enhances their mathematical understanding, it prepares them for new math skills, helps them understand math concepts they are presently learning and reviews former skills and concepts. If you haven't already read the four math and literature connections pages on the site, check them out here.
