MAGAZINES FOR KIDS

Magazines for kids are attractive and have colourful layouts and large images. Children’s magazines help establish a lifelong love of books and provide opportunities for children to listen to short stories for 5 to 10 minutes, to encourage them to read, to solve problems and follow directions, to recognize letters and words and to practice reading.

Children find the shorter stories, puzzles, games, mazes, illustrations, comic section and poems appealing. Many magazines focus on a monthly theme which sparks children’s interest in a variety of topics.

Benefits of subscribing to magazines for kids…

  • They are age specific
  • They cover many subject areas
  • The stories are short, great for short attention spans
  • Magazines are current as they have a shorter publication time than a book
  • Magazines are often theme oriented
  • Many allow children to submit material
  • Magazines for kids contain non-fiction articles as well as fiction
  • Many magazines have websites with further activities for children
  • Children’s magazines encourage a love of reading and problem solving
