Resources & activities for busy educators interested in replacing worksheets with opportunities to learn through real, meaningful situations...
As a teacher of young children, you know that there's only so much little kids can learn by listening and watching. They need to figure stuff out for themselves and have opportunities to talk and ask questions. They need to interact with others and have sensory experiences and have time to wonder. They need to solve problems and wiggle and play.
One key to successfully teaching children is to present topics in ways that are mindful of their natural inquisitiveness. A curriculum that offers children opportunities throughout the day to develop their ability to think abstractly, by experiencing real objects and using their senses, is necessary before offering them abstract worksheets that typically have only one right answer per task.
Children learn so well as they investigate and test real things, as they attempt a variety of ways of problem solving, and what's so great about it, is that they don't even realize they're learning.
My goal is to provide you with hands on activities that give children some control over the direction of their learning, that allow them to touch, move, listen and observe and record their new knowledge.
