Benefits of learning carpets

Learning carpets, or educational play carpets, teach young children academic concepts, help them to work independently and learn about being organized.

There are many different learning carpet themes available such as maps, alphabet, numbers, hopscotch, games and ones that divide spaces for easier circle time organization.

Learn more about the semi-circle, 6' x 12' carpetabove.

When purchasing a learning carpet check:

  • the warranty
  • whether it is soil and stain resistant
  • that the carpet is washable
  • whether it can be used both indoors and outdoors
  • that it is skid proof
  • that the carpet is nonflammable

Divide your space with classroom learning carpets

Learning carpets help educators define spaces and make it easier for young children notice visual boundaries and focus during circle time and other activities.

Smaller classroom rugs or mats are effective for dividing small group sections of the classroom. Use a different type or color of carpets for each learning centers.

Around the Block Rug

Early learners perform better with clearly defined areas. Circle time carpets like this one helps children focus and also can be used to teach numbers and letters. It also has seasonal shapes that are useful for starting classroom discussions or for teaching beginning or ending consonants.

Count the letters, count the pictures, or count how many squares all together. Made from high twist 100% nylon which prevents matting and crushing, 7.67 x 10.75 feet.

Seating Squares Carpet

Your classroom environment will influence your student's behavior. Adding pre divided classroom rugs make it easier for students to meet your circle time behavior expectations.

I tried dividing my circle time carpet with masking tape but had to replace the tape frequently when the carpet was washed (I was not exactly in the janitor's good books either!). A learning carpet with pre divided spaces makes a teacher's job easier.

This one has brightly colored squares, can be used for learning colors, counting "how many yellow squares" or "how many orange and blue rectangles all together", or for other games that encourage physical activity.

Made in the U.S.A., 8'4" x 9', durable , antibacterial, non-slip backing that resists wrinkling.

Rectangle Circle Time Carpet

Another version of learning carpets that divide space. This one has 30 squares and is large enough for primary classrooms and gives each student a nice chunk of space. It has the alphabet around the outside which makes it easy to use for alphabet games.

I like this one as it can also be used for counting activities and as a graphing mat. Classification activity example - "If you have a block with corners, put your blocks on the purple or blue rows, if you have a block without corners, put your blocks on the red and orange rows." Count and record.

This rug teaches the alphabet while providing children plenty of wiggle room. The cute related phonics images will make this a fun place for children of all ages to learn. Proudly made in the U.S., this 7'6" x 12' durable carpet has antibacterial, non-slip backing that resists wrinkling, double stitched edges, life time abrasive wear warranty, and meets NFPA253 Class 1 fire code ratings. Add the Fun with Phonics Kit (sold separately) to create more leaning fun!

Geometry Seating Shapes Carpet

This is another variation of classroom carpets. It is great for teaching shapes and makes it easy for children to follow directions. "Sit on the green circle..."
